In commemoration of World Mental Health Day, the Doctoral Program in Medicine at Udayana University held a community service activity titled "Mental Health First Aid in Mass Casualty Incidents: From Reaction to Resilience in Disaster and Emergency Situations." The activity took place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at SD Negeri 12 Pemecutan, Denpasar, one of the flood-affected areas.
As a concrete implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, this activity aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of mental health in dealing with disasters, particularly regarding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in flood victims.
The series of activities included mental health education, post-traumatic stress disorder screening, and an interactive discussion involving participants and speakers on initial management of mental health issues in emergencies. In addition, food packages were distributed to flood-affected residents as a manifestation of the social responsibility of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. This activity involved lecturers and students of the Doctoral Program in Medicine at Udayana University, healthcare workers, and the local community. Through this service, it is hoped that disaster-affected communities can gain better understanding and support to maintain mental health and build psychological resilience in facing future challenges.
