Doctoral promotion exam dr. Putu Kermawan, Sp.OT, M.Biomed(IKD), AIFO-K,FICS News and Activities

The Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a Doctoral Promotion Examination for the Doctor of Medical Sciences Study Program for Dr. Putu Kermawan, Sp.OT., M.Biomed (IKD), AIFO-K, FICS in an open session held at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

This promotion examination was held after the candidate passed the Phase I Final Examination (Closed Examination) held on September 8, 2025. In this open examination, the candidate defended his dissertation entitled:

"The Effect of the Combination of Shrimp Shell Extract, Soybean Extract, and Paracetamol on the Levels of Soluble IL-6 Receptor, IL-10, and Cartilage Oligomeric Matrix Protein in Joint Fluid, as well as on VAS Values ??and Scores from Western Ontario and McMaster Universities in Postmenopausal Women with Knee Osteoarthritis."

The doctoral promotion examination was led by the chairperson, with the presence of the promoter, co-promoter, objector, and invited academics. The advisory team consisted of:

• Co-promoter: Dr. dr. Made Bramantya Karna, Sp.OT(K)

• Co-promoter II: Prof. Dr. dr. Sianny Herawati, Sp.PK, Subsp. BDKT(K), Subsp. NR(K)

In the hearing, the candidate presented their research results for 15 minutes, followed by a 60-minute question-and-answer session with the opposing panel. The opposing panel members present included:

• Prof. Dr. dr. I Ketut Suyasa, Sp.B., Sp.OT(K)

• Dr. dr. I Nyoman Wande, S.Ked., Sp.PK(K)

The hearing then continued with a 30-minute question-and-answer session with invited academics, which provided an opportunity for academics to provide questions and provide scientific input on the presented research.

After the entire examination process was completed, the team of promoters and objectors held a graduation meeting to determine the candidate's graduation and the predicate. Based on considerations of academic achievement during the study period, research diligence, closed examination results, dissertation defense ability, and study duration, the hearing decided that the candidate's dissertation was accepted and declared successful.

With this graduation, Dr. Putu Kermawan, Sp.OT., M.Biomed(IKD), AIFO-K, FICS, officially received his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree, becoming the 479th Doctor in the Doctor of Medical Sciences Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

The research is expected to contribute scientifically to the development of knee osteoarthritis therapy, particularly in postmenopausal women, through a combination of natural ingredients and pharmacological therapy.
