Doctoral promotion exam dr. Ngakan Ketut Wira Suastika, M.Biomed, Sp.PD, KHOM News and Activities
The Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, held a public doctoral promotion defense on Monday, March 2, 2026, with Dr. Ngakan Ketut Wira Suastika, M.Biomed., Sp.PD., KHOM.
This doctoral promotion defense was held after the candidate passed the Phase I Final Examination (Closed Examination) held on September 4, 2025. In the public defense, the candidate defended her dissertation entitled:
"High Levels of FMS-Like Tyrosine Kinase 3 Ligand (FLT3L) and Soluble CD14 Subtype (sCD14-ST) as Risk Factors for Persistent Febrile Neutropenia in Malignant Patients with Post-Chemotherapy Febrile Neutropenia."
The doctoral promotion defense consisted of three stages: a dissertation presentation by the candidate, a question-and-answer session by the reviewers, and a question-and-answer session by invited academics. In the initial stage, the candidate presented the results of his/her dissertation research for 15 minutes before the examining team and invited guests.

The following was a question-and-answer session with the opposing panel, consisting of:

In addition, the scientific discussion session also involved invited academics who provided questions and input on the presented research.
After the entire examination series was completed, the team of promoters and objectors held a graduation meeting to determine the candidate's passing grade. Based on considerations of academic achievement during the study period, diligence in conducting research, the results of the first phase of the examination, the candidate's ability to defend the dissertation, and the duration of the study, it was decided that the candidate's dissertation was accepted and declared passed.
With this approval, Dr. Ngakan Ketut Wira Suastika, M.Biomed., Sp.PD., KHOM, officially received his Doctor of Medicine degree and is the 480th Doctor of Medicine graduate in the Doctoral Program of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
Through this research, it is hoped that the findings related to the FLT3L and sCD14-ST biomarkers will contribute scientifically to understanding the risk factors for persistent fever in malignant patients with post-chemotherapy febrile neutropenia, thus supporting the development of better diagnostic and management strategies in the medical field.
