Field Assessment of LAM-PTKes Accreditation for the Doctoral Study Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University News and Activities

DENPASAR – The Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK Unud) underwent a field assessment for accreditation by the Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes). The activity, which aimed to validate the quality of education and program governance, lasted three days, from April 9 to 11, 2026.


The assessment process featured two experienced assessors from LAM-PTKes: Prof. Dr. Mariatul Fadilah, MARS., Ph.D., Sp.KKLP., Subsp.COPC and Dr. dr. Maria Selvester Thadeus, M.Biomed, Sp.KKLP., Subsp. FOMC.


Momentum for Academic Quality Improvement

The opening ceremony, held in the Dr. A. A. Made Djelantik meeting room, FK Unud Building, was officially opened by the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Eka Wiratnaya, Sp.OT (K)., Subsp.Onk.Ort.R.


In his remarks, Prof. Eka Wiratnaya emphasized that accreditation is not merely fulfilling administrative requirements, but also a mandate to maintain the sustainability of higher education standards. "The Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, currently manages 38 study programs, 27 of which have achieved Superior accreditation. We remain committed to strengthening risk-based quality assurance at every level, including the development of supporting facilities such as the Anatomy Laboratory, which has now transformed into an international-class educational center," explained the Dean of the Faculty.


Echoing this sentiment, the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ketut Sudarsana, expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the assessor team. He hopes this assessment process will become an objective evaluation instrument for improving the education system. "The presence of assessors is crucial for us to capture the real conditions on the ground, so that improvements in the quality of education, particularly in the Biomedical Sciences Doctoral Program, can be more focused and produce a superior, cultured generation," said the Rector.


Comprehensive Assessment Agenda

Over the three days of implementation, the assessor team conducted in-depth material covering several key aspects:


Management & Governance: In-depth interviews with faculty leaders and the accreditation task force.


Human Resources Quality: Comprehensive evaluation of the performance and dedication of teaching staff.


Services & Facilities: Review of the effectiveness of academic and non-academic services for educational staff.


Graduate Impact: Strategic discussions with graduate users (stakeholders), alumni, and students to map the relevance of graduates in the workforce.


The opening ceremony was also attended by university and faculty leaders, representatives from Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, and other strategic parties within Udayana University. With the completion of this series of assessments, the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, is optimistic that it can maintain the quality standards of higher health education in order to make a real contribution to the national health system.
