DENPASAR – The Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK UNUD), held its Open Doctoral Promotion Examination on Monday, May 18, 2026. During the defense, Dr. Marilaeta Cindryani Ra Ratumasa, M.Biomed., Sp.An-TI., Subsp.TI(K) successfully defended her dissertation and was officially inaugurated as the new doctor.

Promovenda, a student from the 2023/2024 intake, previously completed Phase I of his Final Examination (Closed Examination) on May 4, 2026. In his dissertation, he discussed diagnostic innovations for critically ill patients, entitled:

"Decision Tree Algorithm Compared with Renal Resistive Index in Determining Acute Kidney Failure Criteria Using Galectin-3 and Neurophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) Urine Biomarkers in Critically Ill Patients in the Intensive Care Unit of Prof. I.G.N.G Ngoerah General Hospital."

Open Examination

The examination proceeded solemnly through three main stages: the dissertation presentation, a question and answer session by the promoting and opposing teams, and a question and answer session by invited academics. The examining board appreciated Promovenda's scientific reasoning and the urgency of this research in improving the accuracy of the diagnostic criteria for acute kidney failure in patients in the intensive care unit.

The promoting team supervising this research consisted of:

In addition to the promoter team, the scholarly capacity of the candidate was comprehensively assessed by seven reviewers, professors and experts in their fields, as well as five invited academics who provided strategic input for future research development.

Degree Confession

After a graduation meeting that considered the candidate's academic achievements during the study period, research diligence, and the candidate's ability to defend their dissertation, the chair of the dissertation committee determined that the dissertation was accepted and the candidate was declared PASSED.

With these results, Dr. Marilaeta Cindryani Ra Ratumasa, M.Biomed., Sp.An-TI., Subsp.TI(K) was officially inaugurated as the 494th Doctor in the Biomedical Sciences Doctoral Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

"Starting today, you are granted the right to use the title of Doctor with all the rights, obligations, and honors that come with it.
