DENPASAR – The Doctoral Program in Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK UNUD), has again inaugurated its newest graduate. On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Open Doctoral Promotion Examination was held for Provendus I Putu Dedy Arjita, S.Pd., M.Kes.

This open defense marked the culmination of the study period for this 2023/2024 student, who had previously passed the Phase I Final Examination (Closed Examination) on September 4, 2025.

In this defense, the Provendus successfully defended his dissertation, which explores the potential of marine biodiversity, entitled:

"The Effect of Ethanol Extract of Nyale Sea Worms (Eunice sp.) on Alpha-Glucosidase Enzyme Activity, Blood Glucose Levels, Nuclear Factor Kappa B, and Glutathione Peroxidase in Male Wistar Rats (Rattus norvegicus) with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus."

Composition of the Examining Board and Procedure

The doctoral promotion examination was conducted comprehensively through three main stages: a presentation session, a question and answer session by the dissertation team, and a question and answer session by invited academics. The assessment focused on the scientific reasoning process, the dissertation's contribution to the field of science, and its practical value in society.

This dissertation was defended before a board of examiners led by the following team of promoters:

Promoter: Prof. Dr. dr. I Wayan Putu Sutirta Yasa, M.Si

Co-promoter I: Dr. rer. nat. dr. Ni Nyoman Ayu Dewi, M.Si

Co-promoter II: Prof. Dr. dr. Bagus Komang Satriyasa, M.Repro

The candidate's scientific capacity was also assessed by seven professors and senior doctors as part of the dissertation team, including: Prof. Dr. dr. Made Jawi, M.Kes., Prof. dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, S.Ked, MPH., Ph.D., Sp.KKLP, Prof. Dr. dr. Sianny Herawati, Sp.PK, Subsp.BDKT(K), Subsp.NR(K), along with four other experts. The session also involved five multidisciplinary experts as invited academics.

Confession of the Doctor of Medicine Degree

After the in-depth question and answer session, the session was adjourned for 10 minutes to allow the board of examiners to hold a graduation meeting.

Based on the results of the graduation meeting, which took into account academic achievement, research diligence, the results of the closed examination, and the candidate's dissertation defense, the chair of the session officially declared the dissertation accepted and the candidate PASSED.

With this inauguration, she is officially recognized as the 483rd Doctor in the Doctor of Medicine Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

"Starting today, you are given the right to use the title of Doctor with all the rights, obligations, and honors attached to that title. On behalf of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, we congratulate Dr. I Putu Dedy Arjita, S.Pd., M.Kes. and his family on the success they have achieved," concluded the chairman of the session.
