DENPASAR – The Doctoral Program in Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK UNUD) held its Open Doctoral Promotion Examination on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. During the examination, Dr. Pontisomaya Parami, Sp.An., MARS, FIC., successfully completed the examination and officially received her doctorate.

This achievement came after successfully defending her dissertation, which focused on early detection of postoperative complications in the intensive care unit. The dissertation was titled:

"Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin, Kidney Injury Molecule-1, Urine Interleukin-18, and High Doppler Ultrasound Renal Resistive Index as Risk Factors for Acute Kidney Injury in Postoperative Patients in the Intensive Care Unit."

Proceedings of the Open Examination

The examination proceeded comprehensively through three stages: presentation, Q&A by the promoting and opposing teams, and Q&A by invited academics. The board of examiners' assessment focused on the depth of scientific reasoning and the contribution of the research findings to mitigating the risk of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in post-operative patients.

Promovenda defended her dissertation under the guidance of a team of promoters consisting of:

In addition to the promoter team, the quality of this research was also assessed by seven reviewers, professors and experts in the fields of anesthesiology, radiology, and other medical fields, as well as five invited academics who provided strategic input.

Confession of Degree

Following a graduation meeting that considered the candidate's academic achievements during their studies, research diligence, and the candidate's ability to defend their dissertation, the chairperson of the examination determined that the dissertation was accepted and the candidate was declared PASSED.

With this result, Dr. Pontisomaya Parami, Sp.An., MARS, FIC. was officially conferred as the 487th Doctor in the Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
