Doctoral promotion exam dr. Ni Made Dwi Puspawati, Sp.KK(K), FINSDV, FAADV News and Activities

DENPASAR – The Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK UNUD), held its Open Doctoral Promotion Examination on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. During the defense, Dr. Ni Made Dwi Puspawati, Sp.KK(K), FINSDV, FAADV., successfully defended her dissertation and was officially inaugurated as a new doctor.

Promovenda, a student from the 2023/2024 intake, previously passed the Phase I Final Examination (Closed Examination) on March 30, 2026. Her dissertation research focused on genetic aspects of infectious disease complications, with the title:

"IL-10 Gene Polymorphisms rs1800872, TLR-2 Gene rs5743708, and TLR-6 Gene rs5743810 as Risk Factors for Ocular Syphilis in Patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Coinfection at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah General Hospital."

Open Session

The session proceeded solemnly through three stages: the dissertation presentation, a question-and-answer session by the promoter and objector teams, and a question-and-answer session by invited academics. The examining board expressed its appreciation for Promovenda's scientific reasoning and the research's contribution to identifying genetic risk factors in HIV-coinfected patients experiencing complications of ocular syphilis.

Co-promoter I: Prof. Dr. Ir. Ida Bagus Putra Manuaba, M.Phil

Co-promoter II: Dr. dr. I Nyoman Wande, S.Ked., Sp.PK(K)

In addition to the promoter team, the scientific quality of the research proposal was also reviewed by eight reviewers, professors and experts in dermatology, immunology, and other medical fields, as well as five invited academics who provided strategic input for future research development.

Degree Confession

After a graduation meeting that considered the student's academic achievements during the study period, research diligence, and the student's ability to defend their dissertation, the chair of the dissertation committee determined that the dissertation was accepted and the proposal was declared PASSED.

With this success, Dr. Ni Made Dwi Puspawati, Sp.KK(K), FINSDV, FAADV. was officially inaugurated as the 492nd Doctor of Biomedical Sciences Doctoral Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.
