Doctoral promotion exam dr. I Made Naris Pujawan, M.Biomed., Sp.PA News and Activities

DENPASAR – The Open Doctoral Promotion Examination for the Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University (FK UNUD) was held again on Monday, March 9, 2026. During the defense, Dr. I Made Naris Pujawan, M.Biomed., Sp.PA., successfully earned his doctorate after defending his dissertation before the board of examiners.

The candidate, a student in the 2023/2024 intake, had previously passed the Phase I Final Examination (Closed Examination) on September 4, 2025. His dissertation, defended in this open defense, addressed the potential of natural ingredients for diabetes therapy, with the title:

"The Effect of Ethanol Extract of Nyale Sea Worms (Eunice sp.) on Alpha-Glucosidase Enzyme Activity, Blood Glucose Levels, Nuclear Factor Kappa B, and Glutathione Peroxidase in Male Wistar Rats (Rattus norvegicus) with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus."

The Open Session

The session proceeded solemnly through three main stages: the dissertation presentation session, a question-and-answer session by the promoter and objector teams, and a question-and-answer session by invited academics. The examining panel focused on the depth of the dissertation's scientific reasoning and the practical contributions of the research findings to the field of medicine, particularly in the treatment of metabolic diseases.

The team of promoters who guided the dissertation consisted of:

Promoter: Prof. Dr. dr. I Gede Raka Widiana, Sp.PD-KGH

Co-promoter I: Prof. dr. I Made Ady Wirawan, S.Ked, MPH., Ph.D., Sp.KKLP

Co-promoter II: Prof. dr. Pande Putu Januraga, M.Kes., Dr.PH

In addition to the promoter team, the dissertation's scientific capacity was examined by seven experts in their fields, as well as five invited academics who provided strategic input for future research development.

Confession of Degree

Following a graduation meeting that considered the candidate's academic achievement, research diligence, and ability to defend their dissertation, the chairperson of the examination determined that the dissertation was accepted and the candidate was declared PASSED.

With this success, Dr. I Made Naris Pujawan, M.Biomed., Sp.PA. was officially conferred as the 485th Doctor in the Doctoral Program in Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

"Starting today, you are granted the right to use the title of Doctor with all the rights, obligations, and honors that come with it. On behalf of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, we congratulate Dr. dr. I Made Naris Pujawan, M.Biomed., Sp.PA. on today's success," concluded the chairperson.
